Padel levels go from beginner (just learning the rules) to advanced (competitive, tactical play). On Courtlux every player also has an ELO rating starting at 1000, grouped into divisions — Silver (1000–1299), Gold (1300–1649) and Elite (1650+) — so you can quickly judge whether an open match suits you.
The padel skill levels, explained
- Beginner. Learning the serve, basic rallies and the one-bounce rule. Still adjusting to the walls.
- Improver / intermediate. Consistent rallies, starting to play the net, basic lob and bandeja.
- Advanced. Controls smash, vibora and bandeja, reads the game tactically, plays competitively.
These labels are useful for conversation, but they're subjective — one club's "intermediate" can be another's "advanced." That's why Courtlux uses a numeric ELO rating instead.
How to self-assess your padel level
- Can you serve consistently in? If yes, you're past absolute beginner.
- Do you play the net, or stay at the back? Net play signals intermediate+.
- Can you use the back wall on purpose? Controlled wall play is a solid intermediate marker.
- Do you track score and tactics, or just hit the ball? Tactical awareness is the advanced marker.
How Courtlux uses ELO and divisions
Every new Courtlux player starts at 1000 ELO. Points move up or down after each reported match, based on how ELO works. Divisions group players so you can quickly spot matches at your level:
| Division | ELO range |
|---|---|
| Silver | 1000 – 1299 |
| Gold | 1300 – 1649 |
| Elite | 1650+ |
Everyone starts at 1000, in Silver, regardless of experience from other sports — your division then reflects your actual results in Luxembourg matches.
Why this matters when joining an open match
On Courtlux, open matches at TC Bonnevoie, CK Sportcenter and Sport4lux show the division of confirmed players. Filtering by level means you never show up to a match that's too fast — or too slow — for you.
